REFLECTION
Experience
Overall, this module was actually quite fun and was one of the modules I was most motivated to do because it's interesting to me and allows me to have more creative freedom compared to modules in my previous semesters. Speaking of semesters, this semester has to be the toughest and most stressful by far and I am surprised I am able to complete this module, maybe not with an A but at least a passing grade and work I can be proud of for my first attempt considering all of the things I was juggling while doing these assignments. I am very grateful to Ms. Lilian for being one of the most attentive lecturers with the most helpful feedback. Although my work is not yet perfect, I have learned a lot and even now can see the things I can improve on in my submitted tasks. I am glad that I could at least pass this module (im not sure about the others yet ...) but if I could retake it without having to pay more fees and it impacting my graduation date I definitely would, but those options are incredibly realistic so I guess I will just do some projects for fake clients in my spare time!
Observation
I didn't expect to think like a business owner (minus the financial headaches), I just thought that being a designer meant that you had to work with whatever is given to you but that is not always the case, to be a designer is to create and that also means having the mind to come up with new and fresh ideas no matter what it is. A designer should be innovative, and this module really made me think outside my comfort zone. It helps a lot for me to learn to be independent, or I guess you could say a #girlboss.
Findings
I actually don't have much else to say that I haven't already said, but while working on these tasks I did not have the time to be reading books. However, I am a victim of doomscrolling which sometimes it is actual helpful information. I learned a lot about brand guidelines on Instagram, and how other designers create and present theirs and how professional they all look compared to mine, then I get a bit sad and question my capabilities but then I realise that I am still a student and still learning and they are working adults with years of experience who do it as a full-time job. Then I feel a bit better. I guess it is all about practice, knowledge and experience.
